My name is Rich... I publish a small online music mag called Modern Acoustic out of Boston. I'm doing an issue on Grateful Dead shows and I'd like to use your list... it's a very solid top 10... If you are OK with that, can you email me at email@example.com. I'd love to get your real name or at least your first name.
anyway, thanks. Great list.

Sorry.... I had the date wrong on this show. Could you please correct the identifier so it will match to links of other recordings from this show? Thank you.
The correct date is 2015-05-09
Matt, I fixed the typo in the XML file and a new derive is running now. I'll check in a little bit to see if it sorts itself out now. Feel free to email me at etree at archive dot org to discuss in more detail.
Also, for the most recently uploaded items, if you click on the "About" tab (to the left of the Collection tab) and scroll down a bit, about the 10th link down is "Most Recently Added Items". It is linked to a preloaded sort page that will give you the same results as the method I described above.
Please make the full numeric data used for your claims available. The data charts I've seen do not seem to match the claims in this or other postings. 94% users with 85% responding "No" to trying it again is not a successful thing.
A question that immediately comes to mind is; if the "people who use this site on a regular basis, the changes may not be seen as positive", who are you changing for?
Well, I'm not Alexis or Jeff, I think I can help.
1. The arrows marked with "1" are both ways to find the "This Just In" uploads. The top one is self-explanatory. The one on the bottom is achieved my moving your mouse over "Date Published" on the sort bar and selecting "Date Archived" from the three selections. Date Archived is the date the item was uploaded.
2. The arrow marked with "2" is a way to see the "Recently Reviewed"...
Hi Alexis & Jeff - I mainly use the Live Archive section, and one of the things that I miss the most about the new site design are the features on the Live Archive landing page. specifically I REALLY like seeing the section "Recently Reviewed" & "This Just In". I have relied on these over the years to both learn about new groups (Recently Reviewed) and what things are new on the Archive. I've looked for a link to these two areas in the new design and could not find...
Are you running any peer blocking software? Ad blocking software? Maybe turn them off temporarily while uploading. I'm taking a bit of a wild guess here, to be honest. I wish I had a concrete answer for you.
Can you try Firefox?
Maybe Jeff will see this and offer some insight. I'm sorry this is so frustrating.
Hey Rory, I'm running Widows 8 and have been trying repeatedly with both Chrome and IE 11. I've tried to shutodwn numerous times, clear my cookies and browsing history, and run both the classic and the new beta version of the LMA. It's very frustrating and it's been going on now since Sunday. After 2 days of uploading tracks piece meal I was able to get 1 set up finally.
What might I do beyond what I've done to fix this?
Can you please give us some more details? Are you using the new version or the classic version? When you click on the upload button, what happens? Do you get any messages? What OS/version? What browser?

Sorry, been a busy day in real life.
I'm not seeing any other reports of this and I can see 20-30 shows uploaded today. The usual answer to a specific user having a problem is - what OS/version? What browser? Have you tried a different browser?
If I recall, using a different browser helps for some folks. I think sometimes there is a security setting that is causing an error somewhere.
Seriously, any help with this? The only time I can successfully upload files is early in the morning, before about 9AM. After that I can't get anything through until the wee wee hours of the morning the next day.
I'm repeatedly getting a server IO error when uploading files using both Chrome and Internet Explorer. Files only partially complete but then fail and I can't get anything uploaded. Any idea why this is happening?
Could you kindly delete this book? (The text is unreadable at places so I have reuploaded with more readable version, and I do not want anyone to find this instead.)
Thanks a lot!

please move these shows:

On the right side, under Download Options, there is a file labeled "VBR M3U". If you load this playlist in your media player of choice, it will stream the show for you. I just verified this in foobar2000, but it should work the same in winamp. Can't say about Windows Media Player - haven't used it in years.
These 2 links
can/should be moved to Brett's collection page
I'll work on cleaning it up for you. The appearance of the track order is strictly in alpha order of the files. However, spaces in the filenames (where you included song titles) will cause the LMA processing routine to convert the case to CamelCase.
This will result in ITB2015-02-21t12_He's Gone.flac to convert to Itb2015-02-21t12_hesGone.flac. From a system standpoint, all the ITB... files will come before the Itb... files.
So, a few recommendations:
1. Do not include song titles in the...
I've got the flac files uploaded now and followed all the previous instructions, I've received to get the songs to appear in the order they were played, yet they are still askew. Here's the link to the page.
I was told to label the tracks as they appear, but if it isn't going to help keep them in order I'd like to be able to just have the track number and the name in the display. As the way it is now looks a little strange.
Mac. Yosemite 10.10.2
I haven't tried a different browser because usually once I start with Firefox, which is my default browser I have a few hours into the upload and I don't want to lose what I have by restarting.
I don't know how to create flac files. I got a converter awhile back and lost patience trying to convert my wav files to flac files. I'll seek one out and try again. Maybe it will work this time.

What Operating System are you using and what version? Windows? Mac? What version of windows?
Have you tried a different browser?
Is there a particular reason you don't use FLAC files instead of WAV files? This would greatly decrease the amount and time of your upload, decreasing any likelihood of a data error during transfer.
I've seen several folks that seem to have the same issue I'm having but none seem to be exactly the same as the issue I'm having. When I attempt to upload files (most of the time wav files) They begin uploading ok and then often when they are 3/4ths or so of the way done I get a server io message and the file turns red and I have to start over reuploading that file. So it winds up taking sometimes days to upload a show. Any suggestions/ideas as to what may be causing this?
As you may already know, we've been working on a new version of the archive.org web site. It became available as a beta in November of last year, and started being more widely used in January.
You can read a blog post about the new site that explains reasons for the change and talks a little about some of the evolution the site has seen.
About 94% of archive.org users are using the new web site today. We can see from anonymized statistics that more people are playing and...
we found a great many of our items had damage to the _files.xml where we began considering "derivative" files (typically mp3/ogg/png) to be classified as "original" files (typically shn, wav, flac for etree).
as such, we identified approximately 1/3 of etree items could have this kind of issue, and wrote some code to remove what were almostly certainly our derivatives and replace them with new derivatives.
we dont make .zip files or .m3u file derivatives directly into our...
1. Can you please indicate whether you are using the beta site or the original site?
2. Can you please give us a specific URL of a show?
I want to be sure I am looking at exactly what you are looking at. The zip files are there in the beta site, just in a different place and they don't have a "ZIP" label to them.
Can you please provide an example of a show where the zip files have been removed? Are you using the beta site or the original site? I can see them in the beta site, but they are in a place that may not seem clear to you. I'm happy to explain if you give me an example.
I can't download the "Cloud Shot From Airplane" 35 mm footage successfully? I have tried all the available file choices to no avail. When I download all, it stalls after a few minutes. I have a Mac and would love to use this footage in a music video. Is there a problem with the file?
Thank you for your help,
I see it in both spots now as well. I had to correct the date of the show in the metadata and after about 10-15 minutes it showed up in both collections.
Thanks for the help vanark, sorry for the confusion.
I see it under the Mother Hips collection as well as listed under your uploads. Can you please provide more details as to the issue you are seeing (or not seeing)?
It's been a while since I've uploaded to LMA. Love the new look! I added some files this morning. I guess I missed the new method of adding metadata. I tried to edit the metadata. I might have screwed something up. I'm getting a waiting for admin message. 5hrs as I write this. Anything I can do? Thanks!
Sorry, just saw this post was also from you.
You can still select a year and order the shows by date. I can write out how to do it, but it would probably be easier to watch the short tour video - I used a live music item as the example, and it does answer this exact question.
I'm glad you've taken the time out to try the new site, and we certainly don't want to make it harder for people to add content.
We haven't changed the upload process at all (except for page colors), so I'd like to get to the bottom of why you're having trouble posting a show.
Can you give me more information about what kinds of problems you've had with adding a show through the new interface?
Please create a "New Format" forum for current collection builders. The users who create content and help maintain this site have good suggestions and comments about the current direction the Archive is taking.
There is no better qualified voice than these admins. Although I see repeatedly that all feedback is viewed, the help of 'peer review' of this feedback should bring even better results.
Yes I read the logs, but do not see a comment method that would surpass the forum process.
I couldn't hate the new format more. Everything, from putting a show online, to listening to a show, to posting a song online, has become incredibly difficult. As a poster of 1150 shows, I strongly feel that you should scrap the new format and go back to the way it was!
Hey gang. Please check out: https://archive.org/details/3ws2015-04-18.sbd.touchmix16.q3hd.flac24
No matter what I do, it will not create the lossy .mp3's and show the little audio player in the top right hand part of the browser window.
Sheesh...I've been doing this for about 15 years? What's up? I told it "lossy" was okay?
Is there any way to learn any information about who is downloading a show? I obviously don't mean specifically who, but demographically by region or by incoming link.
Also, is there any way to learn whether a show was downloaded versus streamed and, if streamed, how long the average person listened?
As a band trying to connect with our fans, this would all be really useful information.
please take down this show.
there is a tracking mistake and I will correct it and upload again. Thank you for your help.
Im using windows 7, internet explorer
Tried Windowns 7 , chrome
I also had a problem with The identifier when trying to upload. Tried it for a couple days before it would accept what I wrote, said it was checking to see if it was available but that was as far as it got..
Should we just delete it all and start over? or can I send someone the missing track?
You have the correct link to edit the files. It is the same link an admin would use as well. There is no different place to send you.
1. What OS are you using and what browser?
2. Have you tried to access the page in a different browser (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, etc.)? If not, please try a different browser.
